Background to the survey

Response to Parish Survey Findings (2007) 

Speaking at the launch of the survey results, Fr. Micheál McGréil SJ, a sociologist with a long track record in conducting social surveys, said that the survey was methodologically valid, contained well-phrased questions, had a very satisfactory response rate, and that the answers had been meticulously reported.

The questionnaire covered three aspects of parish life:

  • Church of Our Lady, St. Mary’s Primary School and St. Joseph’s Hall
  • General comments were also sought

1,471 surveys distributed

  • Hand-delivered to all adult residents within catchment area (Red Lane to Russborough) and made available to people outside catchment area who wished to participate. All
    responses were anonymous.

Profile of respondents

  • 810 completed surveys were returned, representing 55% of all adults
