Mass Rock, Hollywood: Sunday 28th May the pilgrimage to the Mass Rock in Corragh, Hollywood, Co. Wicklow will leave Hollywood Car Park at 7am arriving at 8.30am approx. for Mass.  In the event of very bad weather Mass will be celebrated in St. Kevin’s Church, Hollywood at 7.30am. All welcome to celebrate a great Christian penal time tradition.

Blessington Educate Together National School are planning a fun day out for kids, families & friends at the magical Russborough House, incorporating a sponsored walk & Teddy Bear Picnic. It is a great chance to meet other parents & raise some funds for the school. Meeting at 11am in the Artisan’s Courtyard (in front of the ice cream parlour & cafe) to collect activity sheets & maps for the children to enjoy along the walk. The walk duration will be between 30 and 60 minutes (depending on the speed of little feet). Why not bring along a picnic to enjoy (and share with your Teddy!) at the end of our walk in the field beside the playground. Raffle tickets are available on the day & are also available from the PTA Committee at the School, with some lovely Teddy Bear inspired prizes. Please come and join us for this family friendly event. Blessington FC are delighted to announce that they are running a SportsDirect.com FAI Summer Soccer School Camp this year from  4th to 18th August open to 6-14 year old boys & girls of all abilities. This is a great opportunity for your child to develop their football skills, whilst making friends and having fun in the process. Camps are available for both goalkeepers and outfield players. Entry fee €65 per child with special sibling discount of €10 per child if one or more siblings join the camp. An exclusive FAI Summer Soccer School kit, football, & backpack included for all children who enrol on our camp this year. Community Clean Up:
Following a great success last year we have arranged this year’s Community Clean Up Morning for next Sunday 21st May, everybody is welcome and jobs will be allocated by our Tidy Towns Committee, meet at the Square at 8.30am and we finish by 11am.  We need as much help as possible, Tidy Towns judging will be commencing in June.  Let’s keep up the momentum we have generated in recent years, our marking has gone from 208 some five years ago to 265 last year, please come along!

Sun 25th June - Hillbilly Tractor Run. New route to include Humphreystown, Johnstown, Wicklow Gap with return to Valleymount. This will be followed by a street parade in Valleymount.

St Charles of Mount Argus Canonisation Anniversary To commemorate the tenth anniversary of the canonisation of St Charles of Mount Argus, Archbishop Diarmuid Martin will celebrate Mass in the Church of St Paul of the Cross, Mount Argus, Dublin 6w on Pentecost Sunday, 4 June, at 11.00 am. All are welcome.

The Sacrament of the Sick – Healing Mass is offered on the 2nd Saturday of every 2nd month in Church of Our Lady, Blessington, unless otherwise announced.
February / April / June / August / October / December

The 9.30am Mass in Church of Our Lady, Blessington every Monday morning is offered for the sick and those in hospital. A Prayer Card is available free of charge at the Parish Office. 

The Parish Finance Committee would like to thank all who are supporting the Parish Neighbourhood Collection & the Parish Development Fund Boxes inside the doors of the Church of Our Lady. The money raised through the Neighbourhood Collection and these boxes stays in the parish so by your contributions you are supporting your local parish and we are most grateful.

Parish Meeting Room Facilities
The Coimin Centre opened its doors on 19th March 2015. It houses the Parish Office and Day Care facility for the elderly. We also have rooms to rent by day/evening for local groups and organisations. This is a modern, attractive and convenient venue and offers the possibility of a wide variety of meetings, gatherings and events.
You may also be interested in rooms to rent in a more traditional setting. St. Josephs Hall, Blessington has been at the heart of Blessington social and community life for almost 70 years, and today continues to be a thriving hub of activity for users of all ages. The Hall has been extensively refurbished in recent times and is in excellent condition throughout.
Both venues are serviced by Caretakers who are available to facilitate access to the venues, and to assist with particular user requirements.
All groups or organisations using the Coimin Centre and St. Josephs Hall must provide an up-to-date copy of their Insurance Cover.

Please Note: Blessington Parish Pastoral Council wish to advise that anyone requesting to hold collections outside the Church can only do so with Garda permission and no distribution of leaflets/Literature can take place on Church Grounds without prior permission.

Baptisms in Church of Our Lady, Blessington take place on the 1st Sunday of every month at 12.15pm and the 2nd Saturday of every month at 4.30pm. All bookings must be made through the Parish Office 045 865327. The Parish Baptism Team, Fiona & Karen, host a Baptism Preparation Meeting for parents each month in the Meeting Room of Church of Our Lady. All parents who wish to have a baby baptised are requested to attend the Preparation Meeting.

Don’t forget the importance of disabled parking bays around the town. Please think before you park and take a space a little further on and allow a disabled person the ease and ability to park and shop like anyone else. The message is simple, think before you park! There is a slogan in France which reads, "If you take my space then please take my disability too".

The Bethany Bereavement Support Group
is a voluntary parish based ministry which aims to help the bereaved and grieving. The name Bethany recalls the visit of Jesus to Mary and Martha on the death of their brother Lazarus. Although grieving is a natural process which can be helped by the sympathy and understanding of friends, sometimes one may need support to work through it in a positive way. Friends don’t always know how to help; they may be embarrassed by one’s grief; they may even avoid meeting one in the mistaken belief that a meeting may increase distress. It is quite normal to feel anger, guilt, fear and depression as well as the awful pain of loss. These feelings need to be expressed rather than repressed, to be talked out, cried out and put in some sort of perspective. It helps the healing process to talk with a trained listener and confront the very strong feelings associated with grief. Many Bethany members have themselves been bereaved. They are trained to listen with understanding. They accept those suffering loss as they are, and support them through the grieving process. Members of the Parish Bethany Group are available in the Parish Centre (rear of Parish Office) on the 1st Friday of each month from 10.00am to 11.00am and on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 8.00pm to 9.00pm. This is a free, confidential service.

Blessington Greenway is a new 'hidden gem' right on Dublin's doorstep. It links the historic town of Blessington with the Palladian mansion of Russborough House. It is virtually all 'off-road' and covers 6.5kms along the shores and through the forests adjacent to Blessington Lakes - ideal for a leisurely stroll or cycle. Plans are being prepared for the addition of a complete loop right around the lakes for a total of more than 40kms. Blessington Voluntary Cardiac Response Unit regrets that we cannot be contacted directly in an emergency. If you suspect that someone is in respiratory or cardiac distress do not delay as minutes do count in an emergency situation. Remember call 999/112 and they will contact us.At present our response time to a 999 call is approx 5 minutes but we are having great difficulty in some areas where estates or streets have no name signs or houses have no numbers. When you ring 999 the Ambulance Service ask us to respond to your emergency call. The person on duty will reach your area in a matter of minutes so please watch out for us. We will be driving our own cars and will be wearing a highly visible Ambulance Jacket. If someone could be at your door or gate waiting for us, it would save considerable time when time really counts. Please help us to help you!
