The excitement is almost tangible about the Family Fun & Music Day in Poulaphouca next Saturday……and that's among the organisers!! The day kicks off at 2pm. We will have Ireland's Biggest Slide, Bouncy Castles, Funfair, Face Painting & loads more for the children!!! There will be bands playing and many other activities including stalls and maybe a car boot sale. There will be all types of refreshment & meals available; ice cream, coffee, food & bar service. You can also bring your own picnic. The children’s part of the day will finish at 7pm when they will probably be ready to collapse into their beds!!
After a break until 8pm the evening bands will take over. There will be around ten or twelve bands throughout the day with music to suit all tastes. The night time atmosphere will be rock and roll and at the finish there will be a Guns N Roses tribute
The purpose of the day is to raise funds for the Blessington Lake Rescue Boat. The craft they are using at the moment is well beyond its best before date and is rapidly approaching the time when it should be given a well-earned retirement. The volunteers who operate this essential service have sourced and priced a more than suitable replacement. The proceeds from this Fun and Music day will, hopefully, kick start their hopes of a new vessel.
A family ticket is €20 which includes admission and parking. An all day or evening admission ticket is also €20. Tickets are available to pre purchase around Blessington; outlets are listed on the posters around the town.

Don’t forget the importance of disabled parking bays around the town. Please think before you park and take a space a little further on and allow a disabled person the ease and ability to park and shop like anyone else. The message is simple, think before you park! There is a slogan in France which reads, "If you take my space then please take my disability too".

The Bethany Bereavement Support Group
is a voluntary parish based ministry which aims to help the bereaved and grieving. The name Bethany recalls the visit of Jesus to Mary and Martha on the death of their brother Lazarus. Although grieving is a natural process which can be helped by the sympathy and understanding of friends, sometimes one may need support to work through it in a positive way. Friends don’t always know how to help; they may be embarrassed by one’s grief; they may even avoid meeting one in the mistaken belief that a meeting may increase distress. It is quite normal to feel anger, guilt, fear and depression as well as the awful pain of loss. These feelings need to be expressed rather than repressed, to be talked out, cried out and put in some sort of perspective. It helps the healing process to talk with a trained listener and confront the very strong feelings associated with grief. Many Bethany members have themselves been bereaved. They are trained to listen with understanding. They accept those suffering loss as they are, and support them through the grieving process. Members of the Parish Bethany Group are available in the Parish Centre (rear of Parish Office) on the 1st Friday of each month from 10.00am to 11.00am and on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 8.00pm to 9.00pm. This is a free, confidential service.

Blessington Greenway is a new 'hidden gem' right on Dublin's doorstep. It links the historic town of Blessington with the Palladian mansion of Russborough House. It is virtually all 'off-road' and covers 6.5kms along the shores and through the forests adjacent to Blessington Lakes - ideal for a leisurely stroll or cycle. Plans are being prepared for the addition of a complete loop right around the lakes for a total of more than 40kms. Take a look at this video clip for a flavour of what's available and the potential that exists to create a major national and international tourism attraction in West Wicklow!
Tulfarris members actively supported a Greenway Golf Fundraising Classic a few months ago and now you can see the project that the funds are being spent on by clicking on the link below. If you like what you see could I ask you to 'share' the video with your friends through Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and so on. We are keen to let as many people as possible see what is there already and to keep up the momentum to complete the bigger project. So please enjoy and share.

Remember call 999/112 and they will contact us.At present our response time to a 999 call is approx 5 minutes but we are having great difficulty in some areas where estates or streets have no name signs or houses have no numbers.
